Your new role

Here at Hitachi Rail we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Learning & Development Business Partner who thrives in fast-paced environments. This opportunity will support Hitachi Rail’s UK business by delivering on a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic helping to deliver the L&D strategy. 

Working closely with HR and senior stakeholders across the UK, the L&D Partner will support with the designing, developing and implementation of learning solutions which could include e-learning courses, PowerPoint shows or printable job aids plus much more. By managing programs and processes within L&D this position will be ensuring that the fulfilment of learning needs at both global and regional levels are met in order to support both business and people competency growth.

This role offers remote working however the successful candidate must be willing and able to travel to our London office and other Hitachi UK sites as and when required with the potential for global travel.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

• Partner with HR colleagues, business stakeholders and subject matter experts across Hitachi Rail and external vendors to ensure the development of programs that will increase employee knowledge, ability and engagement in the light of a diverse and inclusive culture.
• Collaborate at a global level with all HR colleagues to ensure a strong harmonisation among the learning framework and all the relevant HR processes.
• Ensure the daily relationship with managers and HR colleagues in order to monitor and analyse all regional, functional ,individual, statutory and business learning needs.
• Support  LNA (Learning Needs Analysis) using both structured and informal methods to capture requirements across Hitachi Rail; identifying current and future developmental needs at the company, function and individual level.
• Support LNA, to define annual learning and development priorities and delivery plans with focus on possible training funding opportunities.
• Support the technical training activities with special focus on certifications and qualifications activities.
• Conceptualising innovative and flexible methods to address the developmental and capacity building, including identification of external training programs and conferences, the design and delivery of in-house training sessions, enrolment in online learning programs, mentoring, self-learning, and other methods as appropriate.
• Ensuring and facilitating the implementation of the L&D Plan to ensure smooth execution with effective outcomes and appropriate communication;
• Developing learning opportunities and programs, both self-led and directed, to support employee growth and increase employee engagement both at global and regional level.
• Manage vendor relationships to ensure adoption of external solutions, as intended.
• Develop and implement metrics and monitoring plan to demonstrate the impact training has on improving performance.
• Perform data analysis on user data.
• LMS Management & Performance Feedback.
• Develop and implement integrated reports, coming from different sources.
• Facilitate both instructor-led and virtual classroom/webinar sessions.
• Facilitate in-class simulations and activities to assess learning retention.

Skills & Knowledge

• Expertise with adult learning theory.
• Digital skills and digital contents development knowledge.
• Knowledge of learning methodologies best practices and their applications.
• Self-motivated, accountable, and confident in ability to consult, design, develop, and deliver training programs.
• Can effectively manage change and shift gears comfortably; highly effective in ambiguous environments and able to produce maximum results with little direction and guidance.
• Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills and ability to communicate and influence all levels of the organization, including Top managers and first layer executives.
• Team player with ability of planning, organising, and managing resources (financial resources, human resources,...) to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
• Knowledge of Continuous Improvement approach and application to learning process.
• Feel comfortable dealing with numerous stakeholders, keen to enhance knowledge on business, which represent the main stakeholder.

Education Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, economics or human resources science or equivalent.
• Highly experienced in a similar position.
• Experience in working in an international matrix organisation is desirable.
