The Opportunity

Hitachi is actively seeking a motivated individual to join the team in the position of Workshop Diesel Mechanic. This is a permanent Full Time role based in our Dandenong workshop.

You will be responsible for:

• The repair and maintenance of both new and used equipment
• Conduct basic failure analysis and identify specific modes of failure
• Preparation and testing pre-delivery inspections of new equipment
• Ensuring all work carried out is performed in a safe manner
• Completion and submission of all relevant paperwork and reports
• Maintain a clean and tidy working environment in line with the company's 5S standards

To be successful in this role:

• You will have a relevant Mechanical Trade qualification - Commercial Vehicle trades will also be considered.
• Have previous experience with the assembly, overhaul, repair and servicing of mechanical and hydraulic components on construction and/or mining equipment.
• High Risk Work licences (forklift, dogging, working at heights, etc) would be highly regarded
• A safety focus with a good understanding of Workplace Health and Safety principles
• Good communication skills and a dedication to providing quality work for an OEM
