Junior UX Designer
The opportunity
The Junior User Experience (UX/UI) Designer is a developing member of the User Experience practice, working with experienced designers and partnering with product, engineering and delivery teams. The role supports the design of advanced software products for the energy sector and contributes to an evidence-based product vision for complex power-automation engineering environments.
You will learn to apply an end-to-end design process – from understanding business objectives and user needs to mapping workflows, prototyping, testing and refining solutions. Working under guidance, you will gradually take ownership of clearly scoped UX tasks while building your research, interaction design, visual design and communication skills.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Support UX research and design activities within an end-to-end design thinking process.
- Work with designers, product managers, product owners, engineers and domain experts to understand business objectives, user needs, scope and constraints.
- Review product documentation, backlog items, existing designs, issue reports, training materials and technical artefacts.
- Help prepare stakeholder and user interviews, usability tests, interview scripts and research materials.
- Participate in interviews, workshops and usability-testing sessions, with guidance from more experienced team members.
- Organize and synthesize findings, distinguishing evidence from assumptions, opinions and technical constraints.
- Contribute to user archetypes, jobs-to-be-done, journey maps, use cases and problem statements.
- Map user flows and clearly scoped workflows, including key steps, decisions, dependencies, handovers and error conditions.
- Brainstorm concepts and translate requirements into wireframes, prototypes and user-interface designs.
- Iterate designs based on research findings, usability feedback, design reviews and technical input.
- Apply established design-system components, UX methods, accessibility principles and interface-design best practices.
- Document design decisions and present work clearly to UX, product and engineering stakeholders.
- Manage assigned tasks reliably, communicate progress and risks, and ask for support when needed.
- Continuously develop knowledge of UX methods, tools, the energy domain and complex engineering software.
Your Background
- Up to up to 2 years of professional UX/UI, product design or relevant project experience; strong graduate, internship, freelance or academic work is welcome.
- A portfolio demonstrating your design process, problem-solving approach and contribution to at least one digital product or service.
- Foundational understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, information architecture, usability and visual hierarchy.
- Basic experience with user research, workflow or journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping and usability testing.
- Ability to analyze information, identify patterns and translate findings into clear design decisions.
- Curiosity about complex domains and motivation to understand technical workflows, user roles and constraints.
- Openness to feedback, willingness to learn and ability to iterate your work.
- Good organization, attention to detail and reliability in delivering assigned tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional and international environment.
- Professional English sufficient for meetings, workshops and documentation.
- Working knowledge of common UX design and prototyping tools.
- A bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, computer science, information sciences or a related field is a plus.
- Experience with enterprise software, industrial automation, energy, utilities, engineering tools or products combining software and physical devices is a plus.
