NVIDIA Omniverse / OpenUSD Engineer (Industrial Digital Twin)
Job Description
Hitachi Energy is modernizing operations across its manufacturing facilities.
This project builds a physics-accurate 3D Physical Digital Twin of the plant assembly bays, distribution staging lines, and testing cells using NVIDIA Omniverse Enterprise.
The digital twin will serve as the single spatial truth to evaluate workstation layout modifications, simulate collaborative automation without physical cages, model sensor/camera fields-of-view prior to deployment, and generate synthetic vision datasets via NVIDIA Isaac Sim to bootstrap edge inspection algorithms.

Requirements
Must-have skills:
3D Simulation & OpenUSD: 2+ years of hands-on experience with NVIDIA Omniverse Enterprise, OpenUSD, Omniverse Kit, and Nucleus data pipelines.
Practical experience creating and validating NVIDIA SimReady Assets in OpenUSD.
Robotics & Physics Simulation: experience using NVIDIA Isaac Sim or Isaac Lab for physics-based workcell modeling, collision dynamics, and spatial constraints.
CAD/PLM Ingestion: experience converting and optimizing large-scale mechanical CAD assemblies into OpenUSD assets.
Proficient in Python (for Omniverse extensions and USD scripting) with working knowledge of C++ for performance-critical simulation modules.
Industrial Spatial Awareness: understanding of factory floor layouts, manual workstation ergonomics, and material staging flows.
Nice-to-have skills:
Experience with synthetic data generation pipelines using NVIDIA Omniverse Replicator or early exposure to NVIDIA Cosmos physical AI foundation models.
Familiarity with industrial robotic arms and functional safety integration in automated cells.
Basic exposure to discrete-event simulation tools for coupling spatial layouts with line capacity models.
Job Responsibilities
Ingest 3D plant scans, architectural drawings, and mechanical CAD models into OpenUSD.
Simulate operator workflows, heavy component handling.
Model camera sightlines, industrial lighting conditions, and field-of-view coverage in Omniverse.
Generate photorealistic, annotated synthetic sensor datasets in Isaac Sim / Replicator.
Collaborate with local plant engineering teams and IT to stream shop-floor spatial telemetry into the factory’s central digital architecture.
