Senior Software Engineer - Linux Packaging & Dependecies

Job Description

Seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform Build & Packaging Team. The team maintains custom Debian packages, OS metapackages, and build tooling that form the baseline operating environment across servers. You will audit, port, and recompile our entire dependency stack to run natively on ARM platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in Linux distribution packaging, build systems, and C/C++ compilation.
• Experience with Debian Linux packaging mechanics (dpkg, apt, debuild)
• Experience with C/C++ build systems (Makefile, CMake) & compilation mechanics
• Experience with Python and Bash scripting for low-level build automation
• Dependency tree auditing and multi-arch package building / cross-compilation

Nice to have: 

Experience maintaining custom Linux distribution repositories or corporate package repositories
Familiarity with multi-architecture package routing and repository mirrors

Job Responsibilities

• Audit all internal software dependency definitions and dependency trees to ensure full compatibility with ARM architectures.
• Update, port, and rebuild Debian source packages (.deb) and metapackages for the ARM platform target.
• Resolve cross-compilation errors, header mismatches, library dependencies, and build conflicts across internal C/C++ libraries.
• Partner with SRE/DevOps teams to integrate updated packages into internal artifact repositories (Artifactory/NAIS).
