Senior Software Engineer (MQTT C++)

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled C++ Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain our core on-board connected-services daemon. In this role, you will develop the critical software layer that bridges the cloud and the vehicle - terminating cloud connections via MQTT/Protobuf and translating them seamlessly into vehicle signals over D-Bus.

You will be responsible for a dynamic system that powers the modern connected car experience, handling everything from remote climate control to sentry mode and secure device registration.

Requirements

Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Core Programming: Strong, proven proficiency in C++, with a focus on building robust, high-performance applications.

Embedded Linux: Deep expertise in developing software for Embedded Linux environments (Telecom/C++ Linux background).

Networking & Protocols: Extensive hands-on experience developing Linux applications utilizing MQTT and HTTPS. Familiarity with Protobuf and D-Bus (GDBus) is highly advantageous.

Security Mindset: Understanding of secure device provisioning, mTLS, and certificate management.

Automotive Experience (Nice-to-Have): Prior experience in the automotive domain—particularly working with CAN signals, telematics units, or connected vehicle architectures—is a strong plus.

Communication: Fluent in English with the ability to collaborate effectively in a global, cross-functional team.

Job Responsibilities

Remote Services Development: Implement and manage 20+ remote services behind a unified interface contract with backend-driven activation and per-service protocol version negotiation. Features include:

  • Remote lock/windows/climate control.
  • Charging and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) scheduling.
  • Vehicle status, alerts, position, and sentry mode.
  • Child-presence detection, geo/time/speed fencing, in-vehicle messaging, and driver profiles.

Device Lifecycle Management: Architect the secure lifecycle of the device, managing mTLS bootstrap registration, on-device CSR, service-certificate renewal, and backend provisioning.

Core Architecture & Vehicle Abstraction: Build out the MQTT connection state machine and the GDBus vehicle abstraction layer. You will bind several hundred CAN signals using a robust, compile-time-checked template pattern.

Flow Control Implementation: Design the flow-control layer communicating with the MCU Keyless Agent. This includes managing bidirectional single-message-in-flight serialization, NACK/retry logic, timeout fallbacks, connection heartbeats, fragmentation, and queue supervision.

Quality Assurance: Take ownership of the end-to-end development cycle, including rigorous testing and validation of all implemented features.
