Senior VIL Test Developer (Test Automation & CI/CD Integration)
Job Description
We are looking for a Senior VIL Test Developer to develop and maintain Vehicle-in-the-Loop (VIL) test environments and automated test sequences for an automotive OEM client. The role combines hands-on rig and vehicle work, test automation in CAPL and Python, and integration of tests into CI/CD pipelines. You will work in a SAFe setup in Azure DevOps, onboarded by the client's core team, and take end-to-end responsibility for one or more vehicle projects.
Requirements
- 4+ years in automotive test development or integration, including 2+ years with HIL, VIL, Boxcar rigs or complete-vehicle testing.
- Expert in Vector CANoe and CANalyzer, including CAPL scripting.
- Strong Python for test automation and tooling.
- Deep knowledge of CAN / CAN FD, LIN and Automotive Ethernet (SOME/IP, DoIP); trace analysis with Wireshark.
- Diagnostic protocols: UDS, DoIP, ECU flashing and DTC handling.
- Experience with Mechatronics HW
- ECU log analysis with DLT.
- Understanding of vehicle communication architecture (gateways, domain/zonal topologies).
- Hands-on CI/CD: Git and pipelines in Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- Able to read electrical schematics and use lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, power supplies).
- Experience in Agile/SAFe with Azure DevOps.
- Nice to have: the client's DSA / PD tooling, vTESTstudio, Docker, Ansible, Grafana, ISTQB.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated test sequences for VIL rigs and complete vehicles in CAPL and Python.
- Integrate test sequences into CI/CD pipelines, including flashing, execution and result reporting.
- Operate, maintain and improve VIL test environments across hardware, software, networks and embedded systems.
- Trace faults across electrical, mechanical and software domains.
- Handle support tickets, incidents and intake requests; automate recurring manual work.
- Build monitoring and health checks to improve rig stability and availability.
- Review documentation and electrical schematics; align changes with the client's core team.
- Document delivered features in Azure DevOps Wiki and code; demo results with production data on stability and performance.
- Plan sprint deliveries with the Product Owner and report project status.
