Software Architect / Lead Software Architect
Job Description
If you are tired of maintaining legacy code and are looking for an opportunity to build something from the ground up, this could be the perfect next step for you.
We are building a team of Embedded Architects to lead a major technological transformation. We are moving away from our existing Embedded Linux-based setup and migrating the entire ecosystem to NXP microcontrollers running Zephyr RTOS.
This is a genuine greenfield opportunity where you will define the new software architecture, design core components from scratch, and strategically guide the migration process. It is an ideal opportunity for someone who values technical ownership, enjoys making key architectural decisions, and knows how to leverage the full potential of Zephyr RTOS.
Does this sound interesting? Don't hesitate to apply!
Requirements
Seniority & Experience: Proven experience as a Senior Embedded Software Architect, covering the full product lifecycle from Start of Development (SoD) to Start of Production (SoP), including hands-on experience with production-related activities.
Architecture Framework: Strong knowledge and practical experience with the arc42 documentation template.
OS & Embedded Systems: In-depth experience in RTOS-based development on microcontrollers (MCUs), preferably with Zephyr RTOS.
Modern Tooling & Methods: Practical experience with AI-assisted software engineering tools and modern CI/CD toolchains.
Documentation & Communication: Strong technical writing skills, including requirements breakdown and architectural documentation, as well as excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal enterprise architects.
Additional Technical Skills: Practical experience with IoT connectivity protocols and embedded UI frameworks, as well as basic knowledge of embedded security and cryptography.
Certifications: iSAQB Certified Professional for Software Architecture – Foundation Level (CPSA-F) preferred. Advanced-level modules (e.g. ARCEVAL, IMPROVE, or soft skills) will be considered an advantage.
Job Responsibilities
- Architect robust and scalable software solutions for embedded systems within the LaundryCare domain.
- Design and define software architecture for MCU-based systems, ensuring modularity, scalability, and maintainability.
- Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including design specifications, interface definitions, and technical guidelines.
- Drive the design and implementation of core software components using C++ in an RTOS environment.
- Ensure compliance with architectural standards and quality requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Optimize software performance and resource utilization within embedded system constraints.
- Conduct architectural reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure design quality and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues related to software architecture and embedded system integration.
