Senior Software Engineer - Automotive Digital Key
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Senior Software Engineer to develop our vehicle-side CCC Digital Key R3 agent. In this role, you will build the critical software layer that drives a secure element and facilitates seamless communication between vehicles and smartphones, cards, and keyfobs via BLE, NFC, and UWB.
You will tackle complex challenges in embedded software, cryptography, and automotive architectures, ensuring our digital key solutions are highly secure, lightning-fast, and universally reliable.
Requirements
Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Embedded Software Expertise: Proven experience in embedded software engineering, specifically writing highly optimized C/C++ code for resource-constrained, real-time environments.
Automotive Standards: Strong familiarity with automotive software architectures, ideally AUTOSAR (Classic/Adaptive), including hands-on experience with Rte, NvM, Complex Device Drivers (CDD), and UDS diagnostics.
Wireless Connectivity: Solid understanding of short-range communication protocols, specifically BLE, NFC, and UWB.
Security & Cryptography: Experience with secure elements, smart card protocols (ISO 7816 APDU), and applied cryptography. Knowledge of certificate management (PKI, CSR, root/intermediate storage) and cryptographic algorithms (SPAKE2+, scrypt) is highly preferred.
System Architecture: Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex state machines, table-driven event handling, and multi-session concurrency mechanisms with strict timing constraints (e.g., 10ms runnable budgets).
Domain Knowledge (Bonus): Prior experience with Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) Digital Key standards (especially Release 3) is a major advantage.
Quality & Testing: Strong mindset toward software validation, unit testing, and debugging complex distributed systems.
Communication: Fluent in English with the ability to collaborate effectively in a global, cross-functional team environment.
Job Responsibilities
End-to-End Development: Lead the development, testing, and validation of the Digital Key agent to ensure robust, production-ready automotive software.
Flow & Session Management: Architect and manage a multi-session concurrency engine featuring 20+ flow types, table-driven dispatch, trigger-driven events, TTL timers, and secure-element arbitration.
Real-Time Execution: Implement Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) flows as explicit, non-blocking state machines operating within a strict 10ms runnable budget.
Secure Communications & Cryptography:
- Implement the ISO 7816 APDU layer.
- Manage certificate and key provisioning, including on-device LTK + CSR generation, and root/intermediate/attestation storage.
- Configure SPAKE2+ and scrypt protocols, including secure lockout recovery mechanisms.
System Integration: Seamlessly integrate the agent within the automotive software ecosystem, managing:
- NvM: Versioned persistent key state storage.
- AUTOSAR Rte Ports: Communication towards In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) and cloud Software Components (SWCs).
- Complex Device Drivers (CDD): Interfacing with the secure element.
- UDS Diagnostics: Managing the full diagnostic surface for troubleshooting and compliance.
